Persimmon Farm is nestled on 30 acres near rural Ocana, Tennessee. It was named in honor of the many persimmon trees located on the property, which are easily identified by their beautiful and unusual bark. Home to a variety of wild and domestic plant and animal life, it seems a world away from the city, but is only 15 minutes from either Gallatin or Hendersonville.
The Farm
FOR SALE
We have farm fresh eggs for sale throughout the year. All of our hens are free-range and pasture-raised, so our eggs have that rich, old-fashioned taste that is hard to find in stores.
We also have a variety of home-made preserves, jams, and jellies for sale for $4 in a 4oz. size or $7 for 8 oz. size in peach, blackberry, Queen Anne's lace, pepper, peony, purple clover, dandelion, honeysuckle, chicory, and persimmon. These can be bought as single jars, or we can put together a gift basket of several varieties.
At certain times of the year, we also have livestock for sale. See our livestock page for the latest information on availability of goats, sheep and chickens. We are currently taking reservations for goat bucklings. See our livestock page for more details.
HAPPENINGS
In the spring, we plan to offer Persimmon Farm's inaugural session of goat yoga! This first session will be limited to 20 participants and will cost $20 per person. Feel free to contact us if you would like to be placed on the list to reserve your spot and we will make sure you find out first when the date is set. Only about 10 reserve spots remain.
Looking for a great spot to take family photos? For a sitting fee, your family can use Persimmon Farm as the backdrop. By the woods, in front of the barn, the swing by the pond, in front of the haybales, or by the creek - there are so many different looks your photographer can capture. You can even have your pictures made with some of our chickens and goats. You can contact us directly or have your photographer get in touch.
CONSULTING
New to farming and need a little advice on your garden, goats, chickens or fencing? Want to be a farmer but don't know where to begin? We offer a variety of customizable consultations to help you on your farming journey. Be the beneficiary of our mistakes and learning so you don't have to make the same ones. Check out our mentoring page for more details.
YA'LL COME!
Visits are $10 per person for 1 hour and are customized to your interests. Visits are normally scheduled for the weekends, and reservations are required so that all tours can be socially distanced.
Please see our farm visits page for a list of options or our contact page to schedule your visit. You can also contact us through our Facebook page. Note: while young children are welcome with proper supervision, we have found that children 3 and younger are often uninterested or intimidated by the animals.
PHILOSOPHY
We believe it is vital for individuals to be aware of the environment and know the source of their food. We also realize that many people don't have the resources or may lack the experience necessary to farm, and we believe part of our responsibility as farm owners is to help educate the community and to expose them to the joys of farm life.
