Goats

We specialize in Nigerian dwarf goats, although we also have some that are crosses between Nigerian dwarfs and either Myotonic fainting goats or Nubians.  We choose to focus on Nigerian dwarfs since it  allows us to produce goats that are smaller and more easily handled, yet are still hardy and more than capable of keeping down brush and cleaning fence rows. While we do have goats that are born naturally polled (without horns), we disbud only our females ( for the safety of the goat kids) since horns are the main way goats regulate body temperature. Horns also make great handles! We breed for color and breed goats with blue eyes as well, which is  uncommon.

Socialization

What makes our animals different from animals from almost any other farm is socialization. From birth, we invest large amounts of time with our goats and chickens, so they are used to being handled. Each member of our herd and flock has a name, and we know each one's personality and quirks. When people visit our farm, they are amazed at how tame our goats are since people often have had negative interactions.   We take socialization very seriously, and that is one of the reasons we are able to leave horns on our goats. There is no substitute for spending time with animals if you wish to get the best personality possible.

Chickens

Our flock of chickens is comprised of many different breeds, allowing us to gather eggs in a rainbow of colors. All of our chickens are free-range and pastured-raised and are fed anti-biotic free food.  They are trained from an early age to put themselves in the coop at night, and are hand-raised so they are not agressive with humans - even the roosters!

We have a number of rare colors and breeds in our flock, including Lavender and Blue varieties and those which have feathered legs and feet. We breed  for egg and feather color in our flock rather that large egg production, but it is common for us to collect 2-3 dozen eggs per day, even in the winter.

Available

Farm fresh eggs are available for $3.00 a dozen.

We have a Large Fowl English Orpington rooster for sale for $15.  He is very gentle with people, and is great breeder and flock protector.  These birds have lots of fluffy plumage, some with beautiful penciling.  We also have some smaller Calico Cochin roosters. They will be small when fiuller grown and have feathered feet.

Our kidding season typically begins in late February/early March. While we keep kids with their mothers until they are weaned (typically 7-8 weeks old), we do take reservations with a deposit.  Bucklings are priced between $75-150 depending eye and coat color.  Wethers are generally  $25 less since they will not be used for breeding. On occasion, we may also sell doelings. The price for doelings  is generally $150+. Contact us to be placed on our wait list. Pictures of available kids will be posted here, but follow us on Facebook to receive the most up-to-date info.
